Chapter M

Questions to take to an assessment

There is no need to remember every term. Bring the questions that help the person assessing you explain the proposed care.

Ask about the reason

  • What problem are we assessing?

  • What makes sermorelin relevant to that problem?

  • What other approaches could be considered?

  • What would a decision against treatment look like?

The old sermorelin (Geref) approvals covered a hormone-release test and child growth failure; those approvals ended in June 2009.

Ask about the evidence and uncertainty

  • Which study supports this goal in adults?

  • Did it test the same substance and form being offered?

  • What result would matter in daily life, beyond a blood-test change?

  • What remains unknown about benefit or harm?

Ask who takes responsibility

  • Who is making the assessment, and where can I check that person’s licence?

  • Which pharmacy makes the medicine, and which one handles its shipment?

  • Who explains the tests and reviews progress?

  • Who can answer a question after the medicine arrives?

FDA identifies access to a licensed pharmacist as a useful online-pharmacy check.

Ask about the practical plan

  • Can I have the full cost and renewal terms in writing?

  • What instructions and storage information would the pharmacy provide?

  • What would lead to ending or changing the plan?

  • How will I get help if a problem occurs?

Mark any unanswered point. A second conversation can start there.
