Sermorelin Care guide

Chapter B
What sermorelin does
The name can sound like a whole treatment plan. It is a substance with a particular job. What does that job mean?
It sends a signal
A peptide’s tiny parts are joined as beads would be threaded together. Proteins use those building parts too.
Sermorelin copies part of growth hormone-releasing hormone, a natural signal made in the brain.
The pituitary is a small gland beneath the brain; this signal prompts it to release growth hormone.
Growth hormone is a body signal that helps children grow.
Sermorelin is not growth hormone itself.
FDA reviews of this drug family say that a person with no remaining growth-hormone production will not respond.
Ask what diagnosis is being considered and how it will be assessed. Diagnosis means the name given to a health problem after assessment.
The old approval had specific uses
Sermorelin (Geref) once had US approval for a test of hormone release and for growth failure in children with a hormone shortage.
Both approvals ended on June 18, 2009.
In the records checked on September 28, 2026, sermorelin had no FDA approval for adult treatment.
That history raises a direct question: what research supports the use being discussed with me?
Match the explanation to your goal
Ask the person assessing you to explain how the drug’s job relates to the change you hope for. A description of a hormone does not answer that question on its own.
See what the studies can tell you
Keep this in mind
Separate the drug’s job from a promise about how you will feel. Ask for evidence that matches the goal of care.
